Has anyone ever had a successful hunt at Zaleski? I'm going to scout out this area again this weekend, but don't want to be disappointed. I saw a couple of good signs, but I'm sure that the opening morning will be hectic with avid hunters. Take care and have a safe weekend!

David Ellis

Proverbs 3: 5-7
Let me see how things work out Deeg, i might take you up on a day of hunting but have to see how work plays out first. I plan on being in wayne from the eavening before the opener to Thursday and possibly friday. i am tossing a tent out back off Sand run Rd. Just outside of Carbon Hill and camping to keep the trip somewhat cheap lol. This is my first try at turkey hunting so a veterans advice just might help a bit. Also, I see your at Wright pat, I live in Troy and although he is deployed right now my brother is also stationed and lives on base at wright pat. The two of us spent several years hunting deer on wayne with my father and a few other friends

Big Dale-
Well if you want to tag along let me know. I'm going to be down that way April 18th, 19th, and 20th, so if you want to hook up and try to get some birds in then I would love to show you a couple of tricks. Just keep me posted on whats going on. Also, if anyone on here that reads this wants to do the same that would be awesome. The more of a group you have the better the chance we can get a bird.

David Ellis
I've hunted Zaleski the last few years when I was out Hocking College. I know the area across from Lake Hope to Bucks to moonville. I personally shot a two yr. old there two years ago and called and a roomate shot 3yr. old. The year prior I called in six and dad shot one at 9feet!! in full strut head on after he circled 350 degrees. I have almost every topo of hocking and most of athens and vinton and they are a must to me. I agree to get back in. I got a couple of secret spots to me that I might share if you e-mail me [email protected]

Wayne is so spread out so could not tell you all the good places to look, but there is the DNR page and search through all of the land available to hunt and there is little particles on back roads that might have little pressure.

Oh yeh if you park I suggest going far or go early and park down the road. Many times I came out to find lazy #@#!#@! that parked behind me and front of me figuring I knew where the birds were.
I will do that Deeg, i am almost certain I will be there but work this time of the year is crazy. I plan on meeting up with a few people we used to deer hunt with for a day or two as I havn't seen them in 10+ Years and i will certainly let you know if i make it down south. I have learned alot about turkey hunting by way of books, Videos and practice with my calls but nothing beats somone with first hand knowledge
