<P style="MARGIN: 0px">What a couple of days we had!!! Our first morning was GREAT!!!! I'd planned to take my nephew to a spot on a power line right-o-way. We had 5 gobblers sounding off the roost. They must have been sharing the same tree!!! Best gobbling I've heard in seasons!! One would stop and the others would keep it going. I swear it sounded like one continuous gobble for 5 minutes!!! BUT!!!!!!, soon as they hit the ground....SILENT AS A CHURCH MOUSE!!!!!! We tried everything we had. They just went the other way. Every now and then one would gobble. They wanted nothing to do with us!!! But what a heart pounding morning!!! This morning was much the same. Birds gobbling off the roost then SILENT!!! Chased them all afternoon!! Finally cut 3 gobblers off and had them coming right towards us. Had them answer my call just a couple times. Sat for 2 hours and the birds never did show up. Last gobble was only about 100 yards away. I just think there are to many hens up and running around right now. I will not hunt this week due to that assumption. Maybe not even next week.
