Coast Guard was just dispatched to get a couple stranded fisherman off an ice floe west of Catawaba.

Yesterday a guy went through with his snowmobile off of Catawba. They were going to get the machine today. So they weren't the first this year.

About 10 guys out on spencer lake. Dont think its thick enough enough for me yet.
Some inland lakes are safe now. I'd imagine protected areas like east harbor may be ok too. No way in hell would I venture on erie right now though.
In looking at the wind forecast and 15 day weather forecast, I can't see erie being safe for the foreseeable future, if at all.
With the wind, im not sure I'd even try east harbor. I just don't think safe ice on the big pond is going to happen this year.
