Anyone know of any type of cleaner for turkey mounts to bring out the shine on the feathers and also prevent bugs from destroying the bird. The feathers on the tail fan are starting to break down and I believe that it is the work of mites. Any suggestions? Thanks, Erick.
Erick, Call me some evening and we can talk about your problem. As for cleaning birds, wad up white bread and wipe along the body of the bird. Always go from the head to the tail. Strut birds are the worst to get clean as you can break the feather shaft on the back feathers. If you can at all afford it put your strut mount under glass. That is a recomendation I give anyone going that route. Got your calls all tuned up for this spring? My best, Jim McNamara

you could use a damp paper towel to get the dust off as for the shine i have heard of guys useing food grade silicon spray to bring out the shine, but that is just adding oil to a mount that we taxidermist try to get out.
