Well the calls are put away along with the clothes washed and stored.

We bombed out today. Mat and I decided to push the comfort zone and get tight where we hunted yesterday. Got in the exact postion in the dark where I wanted( I was only there once in the daylight.) About 6:15 a hen left the roost and landed right below us. Then another doing a fly down cackle.

Next two birds flew out across the river, while a fifth started yelping. Do not know what they were.

That was it, we were just to tight with to much noise going in. The all were only roosted 40 -50 yards from us and had us pegged from the start.

Going to do some things differant next year. This property I had sole permission on with only one interference. Going to try and put in a food plot where the birds hung out, along with hunting it from the first morning on.I stayed out the first week, except for the first midmorning day when Val and I hunted it at 9:00. It seemed more birds moved in the last two weeks too.

What is everyone else going to do next year after this past season?

Things to do different next year:

Hunt more down south, find at least one good spot up here that 10 other people can't hunt, pray for a good hatch this year so we have more birds next year, try to scout more so I can try to figure these birds out. Oh yeah if if a bearded hens shows itself next year, I'm shooting. I passed up a bearded hen up here because we don't have a ton of turks up here. Now all I have to eat is tag soup. No really I don't regret passing it up here, but down south I'll shoot one in a heartbeat.
