Had my pup out today for his first swim. I was expecting him to be a little hesitant to get in and slowly walk in. That was not the case. I got in my waders and waded out a couple feet and squeaked his toy and here he came jumping in. He didn't stay in for long for he did jump in twice so I was pleased. Pictures are soon to come.

Outstanding, I can remember Drake's first swim, he was a little unsure until I walked out with wadders on, after that, I can't keep him out of the water.

It's fun to remember those times. We got our dog when he was 11 months and he wouldn't go any further out than chest deep. We ended up going camping w/ some friends that had a golden that ran out into the middle of a creek and our dog went out after him. Once he figured he wasn't going to sink like a rock it's been nearly impossible to keep him out of the water. Now he'd much rather do water retrieves than chase a bumper in the back.

Had him down at lake cumberland this past weekend. Man what a riot. He was pouncing around and occasionally just jumping into where he couldn't touch then come back then go back out this went on for about a half hour he was having a ball. A german shephard pup came down and started playing with him in the water it was funny. They were like a couple of kids dunking eachother. At first I got scared it would turn him off of the water but then he dunk the shephard a few times and they were having a blast.

I remember Shawnee's first swim like it was yesterday. Now she's 9 and swimming to rehab from a blown knee. Under any circumstances, it is a joy to see these dogs in the water.
