Hey guys, I am currently deployed to the middle east as an Infantryman for the US Army. In the last 15 months of this fiasco, I told myself if I get out of here alive I was going to fish for walleye!!! I have never fished for walleye, but do very well at home on the sauger with jigs and such so I am not a complete dummy! I also troll on Kentucky lake alot for white bass (10'-15') so I understand a little about the concept but have never used down riggers and such... I have a new Lund Alaskan with a 115 four stroke so I can or will be bringing my own boat. What I am asking is this...I will be home and ready yo come up there in the month of August. Where would be a good place at that time to fish?? Erie? Some of the rivers?? Any help would be appreciated. If any of you guys would like to tag along and play guide that would be fine as well or if you needed a fishing buddy for a few days...Thanks again!

All the best,

Kino

A friend of mine who charters on the lake has told me that the end of July and early August are the PRIME weeks for the central basin of Erie. That would mean going out of Ashtabula, Conneaut or between there and Cleveland.

first of all welcome home and thank you for defending our freedom. Ive always gone out of cranberry creek marina, and fished the ruggles reef/vermillion area. Just find the reefs/mass of boats, and you should be into fish in no time!!HOO-YAH

Thanks ALOT guys for the info!! I know NOTHING about your all areas up there, but am very excited to get up that way and try the eyes! I am nnot outa here yet but will post more when I have more time as we are ripping our replacements in. There is still ALOT of things going on here in Afghanistan, and as an Infantryman its kinda hard to learn from a book or someone elses notes and grid coordinates! Thanks again guys and enjoy your summer!

Kino
