We'll be heading up to for our annual walleye trip next week and wanted to see what people were catching and how far out. The boards I've been seeing have a decent number of fish but smaller than last year.

How are guys doing?

How far out are you having to go to find fish?

Thanks!

Theres been 15+ mph winds here the last few days. Hopefully it's a little calmer when you're up here.
We went out of Huron last saturday. Only 5 keepers and all smaller, 15-21". Caught a bunch of 12-15" and 8" eyes, and of course, junk fish. Went trolled bandits and meat. Most fish were on the meat, but the bandits pulled a couple of the keepers. We went through about 5 dozen+ crawlers.
I haven't fished Lorain yet this yr but will prob be there this Sunday . As mentioned, alot of small fish from the 14 and 15 hatch which is great . I've been fishing the Huron/ cranberry area and limits have been tough even with catching 40-75 walleye per trip . Gonna fish Lorain and try and get into a better grade of fish .
We fished the dumping grounds Friday morning and it was rough. 3-5' waves as we went out and they didn't start to lay down until after 3. We boated around 15 walleye with only 6 keepers. It was rough fishing in those waves with 3 of us getting sick and two pukers (I was one). One guy never touched a fishing pole. The other boat landed 12.

Headed out there in the AM. Will post results.
Only 3 walleye landed today in our boat, and 2 in my buddies, buddies boat. Both boats lost several potential walleye. Good news is that I got to take my 11 year old, and he caught all three of ours. 5,6, and an 8. His first walleye ever, 27" and 8lbs. We slayed the sheephead. He got at least one fish ohio sheephead. Few cats, white & yellow perch, white bass, and a ton of biting flies!!!! I dont keep fish, so I dont care how many walleye we catch. Had a blast watching my son get worn out by bongo after bongo!
Cousin went out last week with eye hooker. Two days six guys 17 keepers. He said they threw back 75-100 small ones. He said most were so small couldn't even tell they'd hit while trolling. I'll wait until next year when the new hatch has some size.
