I was able to bag bird number two yesterday morning. The bird was classified as a Jake, but was a shade over 20 lbs. It had 9/16 inch spurs and a very nice fan. When the tail is spread out evenly, you can barely see the "notch" The beard was very short at about 4" but had very bad beard rot. Was this a special bird to most hunters? Probably not, but to me it was the best bird that I have ever taken. The reason, it was the first turkey ever taken on our farm. Hopefully they will continue to prosper in our woods and my grandkids will have the same opporunity that my great-grandparents have given me.
