My buddy has a short bed ford pickup. We want to haul the 4 wheeler and tow a boat at the same time. The tailgate must ride open with the 4 wheeler in the bed. The problem is the winch stand on the boat trailer will then hit the tailgate.

I'm thinking about taking some 2" box tubing and making an extension from the reese receiver. I would need about 18 inches added. Has anyone ever done this? Can you think of a better way?

Thanks

Call a hitch shop. Ive seen pickups with the slip in campers that hang well over the back of the truck pulling boats on a longer hitch. I believe they make the hitch you are looking for.
