I've hunted a few yrs with a pistol. Only even shot one deer with it. I used a 44 Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 10.5" barrel. It shoots really good even with the limited amount of time I shot it and using iron sights.

I use a Thompson Encore 7mm 08, it works like a charm with those ballistic tip bullets. Goes in small comes out large. I shot a huge doe at 350 yards with it and she dropped like a pancake.

<P>My uncle shoots a Thompson Encore Also. He primarily uses the 30-06 barrel.&nbsp; I hunt with him in Wisconsin, and he has tempted me to take it out a few times. May have to take him up on it this year.</P>

<P>HI, I USE A MATTE STAINLESS&nbsp;TAURUS RAGING BULL 44 MAG. W/ AN 8 3/8 INCH BARREL. IT IS TOPPED WITH A&nbsp;MATTE STAINLESS&nbsp;BUSHNELL TROPHY 2-7X32MM SCOPE. IT IS HEAVY, BUT TAMES THE RECOIL FOR NICE SHOOTING. I STILL NEED SHOOTING AND SIGHTING IN TIME WITH IT THOUGH.&nbsp;I HAVE HUNTED WITH IT A FEW TIMES. IT IS A JOY TO HUNT WITH!!&nbsp; </P>
