I just bought one of those wind powered dove decoys. My question is, do you take the wings off if there isn't any wind? I was wondering if the wings would spook the doves if the weren't spinning in the wind.

I have one of the wind powered ones and I do not think Katrina could have gotten it to spin. I was in a field where the guys down from us had three. Wow dove magnets. I took out my super lucky duck and it worked fine until they got too close to figure out it was not real.

I bought one of the wind power doves also. It did not work even the slightest. I returned it and bought a mojo dove. Once you hunt with a mojo dove you wonder how you ever did with out it.

To answer the question, NO you don't have to take the wings off dove will work it even if it's not spinning, It does help to have other dove dekes on the ground when using the flying deke.

now for those of you that are having a problem getting a little breeze to move the wings, take the wing assembly apart and where the rod touches plastic, take a #2 pencil and color the area with the lead of the pencil, the graphite should lube it enough to spin in the slightest of breezes.DD
