My 8 month old Lab cut his pad during training at a local game reserve - gun dog area. I have no idea what he may have cut it on. He gave no indication he was hurt but I noticed it when we got home. I applied EMT gel and called the vet and he said that was all he could do as well. It seems to be healing well and my question is how long does a cut pad take to fully heal?

Thanks Tim

Last season, my labs were always cutting their pads at Mosquito lake. I thought originally that it was al the broken glass around but they were getting cut even when I was out at a couple of the islands!!! We finally figured out that they were cutting them on the zebra mussle shells. Some were nasty looking but all healed on there own with general first aid. Some took close to two weeks to look healed.

Thanks for the reply. I can live with 2 weeks, hopefully that is all takes.. Give me a chance to do other things I put off while training. I am trying hard to keep him off his feet as far as carrying him outside.

Thanks Tim
