How many of you guys have your concealed weapons permit?

I myself plan to take the class in a few months when I get a little time. I think it's another step in the right direction for
gun rights. If a criminal wants to carry--He will regardless.
I know several people who have them and seldom carry. Also a lot of businesses are for it such as Wal-Mart etc.
What are some other businesses that allow CCW in their stores?
I asked this question to several of my friends that are Deputy's and State Troopers and they have a different point of view than I do, but they know before they pull you over that your carrying (legally). So what are your thoughts on this???

I finally finished the class about a month ago but still deciding if I'm going to apply for the permit. So far the concealed carry regulation booklet has been revised 3 times and it's being revised again. I waited almost a year so that they can iron out problems, but new situation keep popping up for revisions because the laws are vague. After taking the class and speaking to the instructors and law enforcement asking questions it may put you in more situations than expected. It's recommend that you speak with an attorney to help you with the laws so you don't get in a jam!!! Timmy send me an email if you want and we can talk about what I've been told. I'm all for the right to carry but if you do carry be prepared for the consequences and head aches that will come with this privilege!!!!!

I dont know why, but I have been thinking about doing it just to do it. Im sure I will probably never be packin, most of all because I have a 6 and 3 year old, and dont want them to get the wrong idea, you know with tv and all. They understand gun safety(as much as a 6 and 3 year old can)and totaly listen to me about not touching guns, and how to behave around them.

I guess thats better than "Oh, daddys got his gun today, I guess he is going to rob another liquor store"<img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">
I have no reason to carry a gun, I guess I just want to take the test because of my love of weapons, and the proper use of them. Besides, have you ever notice all of the stickers everywhere. You cant leagally take a piss in a public park restroom while packin. Whats the point of carrying a gun if you cant go antwhere with it? Its the exact opposite reason for getting it in the first place! You would think that if you are carrying a gun, you would be aloud to do more that the guy without huh?<img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><img src="/images/boards/smilies/nono.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"><img src="/images/boards/smilies/cool.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">

I have mine and carried for years (with permit) in another state. Try and follow the rules the best that I can. I agree that some of the rules are vague and need to be worked out. As for police officers or organizations that dont support CC for law abiding citizens. All I have to say is "fear the government that fears you". I have the right to protect my family and myself just as they do.

I support the right to conceal carry and will someday get my license.

It's is best to inquire about the states your allowed to carry with the permit.

If you travel, you may want a Florida or Texas permit which allows you to carry in more states.

<P>I have a carry concealed weapon permit in another state and am a retired law enforcement officer. Just follow the rules and if your are ever stopped by the police, please tell them that you are carrying and don't make any furtive movements, just do what they ask you to do and your fine. You have the right to carry a firearm as long as you have the proper documentation. The permit is actually a violation of our constitutional rights and is not required by law. But the government, whether it's local, state, or federal level has deemed it a necessary evil. Be reasonable and safe, and you won't have any problems, it's the few that ruin things for the majority. Good luck.</P>

I HAVE MY CCW LICENSE. MY FATHER AND I TOOK THE CLASS TOGETHER HERE IN CLEVELAND EARLIER THIS YEAR.&nbsp;IT ONLY TOOK THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT ONE FULL DAY TO DO BOTH OF OUR BACKGROUND CHECKS AND WAS NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER.&nbsp;FOR THE MOST PART THAT I HAVE CARRIED WAS GOING FISHING AROUND W55TH AND 72ND. STREET AT NIGHT. IT GETS PRETTY BAD THERE AT NIGHT. PLUS IF I FEEL WHERE I AM GOING MAYBE UNSAFE I WILL CARRY. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK MY LITTLE BROTHER NIGHT FISHING WITH ME AND WAS CARRYING I JUST EXPLAINED TO HIM (SINCE THE FIREARM HAS TO BE IN VIEW) THAT I WAS CARRYING MY GUN SO THAT IF HE HAPPENS TO GLANCE OVER AND SEES IT THAT HE WONT BE SURPRISED. MY BROTHER AND SISTER'S KNOW THAT MY DAD AND I HAVE GUNS AND HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO RESPECT THEM. THEY GO HUNTING WITH US AND KNOW ALL ABOUT FIREARM SAFETY, BUT THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH THEM. PLUS THEY KNOW THAT THEY ARE LOCKED UP. I ALSO FEEL THAT THE LAWS ARE VAGUE, BUT MOST OFFICERS ARE AWARE THAT HONEST PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE THAT WANT TO PROTECT THEIR LOVED ONES. ANYWAY IF YOU ARE AN HONEST CITIZEN AND HAVE YOUR CCW, THEN YOU HAVE TO BE AN HONEST CITIZEN. THERE ARE MANY STIPULATIONS, AND IF YOU HAVE HAVE ANY PRIOR FELONIES WITHIN THIS CRITERIA THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EVEN GET A CCW. IF ANYONE IN THE CLEVELAND AREA IS LOOKING FOR A QUALITY CCW CLASS PLEASE EMAIL ME!! THE INSTRUCTOR WAS A SGT. FOR THE CPD, AND HIS FATHER AND BROTHER ASSISTED AND THEY WERE SHERIFFS. THE CLASS WAS AWESOME!!THE MORE HONEST CITIZENS THAT JUST GET THEIR CCW WILL HELP AMERICA KEEP THEIR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS!!&nbsp;&nbsp; GOD BLESS!!

<P>I have had my permit since they changed the law. Odd thing is, I have never carried a gun yet, but have purchased five handguns since I got the permit, thinking that they would make nice ccw guns.</P>
