Cabela's- Centerville

I made it over to Cabela's in Centerville (Dayton) last night. I drove by it last weekend when it opened and it was freaking insane! People were parked everywhere and anywhere they could find a spot. There's no way I was going to fight that insanity. It was pretty empty last night. It's a nice store and will likely cost me some extra money since it's five minutes from my home.

How many square feet is the store? The last few new stores I have been in have been small. Just wondered as I get over that way sometimes and always like to check out a new Cabela's.
"Small" being relative. Their flagship stores are over 200,000 sq ft... but these "small" ones are still in the 80,000 sq ft ballpark putting them on par with a Walmart... which is pretty big if you ask me.

Also not looking forward to the one in Avon opening up. Supposed to do so in July and the entrance is still on a 2 lane road in an already very high traffic area.

Based on our opening, the area will be fracked up if they don't plan ahead.

Tough to say they didn't plan ahead... The construction moved so fast there was no way the city could have kept up. They could have postponed construction, but I don't think the city or Cabela's wanted to do that.

At the same time they approved the Cabela's construction, they also approved the widening of the road from 2 lanes to 5, but it takes a little longer to widen a road than it does build a building... Its going to be a nightmare for traffic, at least in the short term.
I made the mistake of going there first Saturday with my three year old. Nightmare! Online prices are cheaper in many situations. Plan on using it mostly for in store pick up unless I'm in a pinch.

That's worse than hunting CC on opening morning!:D

It's like any other store, catch it on sale or order online and have it shipped to store and you'll save $$. If you're looking for something specific and need it quick they'll have it/

Yes it is. Which is why I don't go. Too many sneakies. Great example..while there I was browsing g through tbe turkey calls. Guy comes over...said its about that time. I'm like yep and then I thought to myself wait for it wait for it..." Where you turkey hunt?" In the woods time to go.
You are correct about the online prices. Much cheaper. They will honor them. Customers shouldn't have to price check

Not always some things are online specials. I'll find out today if they negotiate at all on their used guns. We will see.
Why argue. Free shipping to store. Order, pick up, pay, and leave. I won't be tempted on other things this way either.

Why assume the worse? Maybe he meant what state or county.

Flagship stores can be over 300,000 sq ft. I know Dundee is that big as well as the store in Hamburg Pa.
The small stores are nice but they don't carry near the variety of goodies the larger stores do plus the smaller location carry mostly the cabelas line of clothing.

I guess an even better question...why even ask?

It is nice to have the store close and I can say they will negotiate with their used firearms. I've been wanting a particular firearm and had it shipped from dundee. Their asking price was 1200 got them down to 900. They mark up their guns 30-40% just so you know. They made a little (not as much as they would have liked)), and I got what I wanted without over paying.
