Disassembly and reassembly of the MP 153 is very simple, much more so than with a Rem. 11-87. However, there is a hitch which can develop when reinstalling the barrel into the receiver. Sometimes the barrel seems to hangup about 1 1/2" short of bottoming out in the receiver. It's irritating when it happens, because the cause is not immediately apparent. However, the reason this occurs is because the coil main spring can sit a little high (a few thousandths of an inch) in the stock forend support (part 22), and the bottom of the barrel can hit the part of the mainspring sitting slightly above the forend support.

The solution is simple, just pull downward on the mainspring, rotating it a little which should pull the spring out of conflict with the bottom of the barrel, letting the barrel slide the rest of the way into the action.
