Attack on Voter-Verified Paper Ballots in Ohio

Ohio's voter-verified paper ballot (VVPB) law is under attack. Please take action now to prevent paperless e-voting machines from putting Ohio's elections at risk.
Ohio voters won a great victory when the law requiring VVPBs was passed and signed by the Governor last year.
Because of this VVPB law, the seven Ohio counties which now have paperless e-voting machines will add voter-verified paper ballots as of January 2006 (and no Ohio counties could purchase new paperless e-voting machines).
Since then, the Secretary of State has also mandated that all counties statewide must use precinct-based optical scan systems, a far more cost-effective and reliable choice. Under his directive, counties with paperless e-voting machines will replace them with optical scan systems.

Paperless e-voting machines do not allow for proper audits or recounts and have a history of problems, including malfunctions and failures that have lost votes permanently, as well as the potential for fraud or tampering. Voter-verified paper ballots are the way to prevent these problems from recurring.
VerifiedVoting.org has learned that some disgruntled lawmakers are attempting to repeal or undermine Ohio's landmark VVPB law, which passed with a sweeping majority and powerful public support. We urge you to join us in saying:"Don't even think about taking away our voter-verified paper ballots!"
Tell your lawmakers today: you won't stand for any repeal of this law. Insist on transparent, reliable, publicly verifiable elections for all Ohio. Take action today. Visit VerifiedVoting.org's action center at;
