We roosted 1 last night. We set up on him about 60-70 yards away this morning. He gobbled and flew down the opposite way of our set up and we called him back in to about 40 yards and stood there strutting behind some brush. then he finally walked off waiting for us to come to him. No clear shot.

I did. Set up about 250 yards from where I shot one yesterday, on the highest ground and the most wind protected. Nothing gobbled. then at 6:50 a shot went off about 200 yards back in the woods in a low valley.

At first I figured someone shot one from a tree. But when I drove around the section a truck was still parked on the opposite side. Don't know if they did shoot one from a tree or shot a coyote.

I figured it was to early for the birds to come down in the rain and wind.

Has anyone seen the extended forecast for the week? Looks like mostly rain 'till friday here.

Going to try again in the morning. We are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches of snow.

Snow isn't always a bad thing???.......Here is a post from another site that I read today. I am taking a friend out in the morning as well.

---We had 14 inches of snow two days ago, took a guy hunting during the storm saw a couple birs but they would not move!! one was a double bearded tom,a pair of long beards!! yesterday in the am, we were set up in deep snow!!!couple gobbles, the snow was hard and crusted. At 830 they really went wild! we had 5 different toms going in 20 min, a pair of long beards ,both single beards came in through the snow in the bright sun shine the snow had sofened so it wouldnt hold the birds, what a sight!! they would fall through the snow, heads and tails left in view. he shot the tom at 21yds. it had a 9" beard and no spurs, the other bird had a shorter beard, but after looking at the video, he had great spurs!! all on tape , for a day I thought would be wasted. turned in to a real exciting hunt in 14" of snow the toms came in from 1/4 of a mile we back tracked them cant beleive the didnt fly in but walked in!! ---
