I am going to visit a friend in Kentucky and I will be heading down I71 through Columbus. Would you guys drive through or take the bypass?. I am going to try to time it so I pass through mid day to avoid rush hour traffic.

Straight down 71. You'll be fine....make sure you pay close attention to the signs though as it can get a little tricky at the 71/70 interchange.

if i am remebering correctly, just stay in the left or center lane. when you go through the right hand 90 in town, be prepared to jump lanes. it happens fast.

and whatever you do bypass the chit hole Cincy. You get off one of the exits and you'll be stuck for hours.

I would take 270 (bypass) West from 71 and then take 315 South (2nd exit). 315 will dump right back into 71 South and you avoid the split. This is the best way period.
Good info, thanks again. I remember from a few times I have driven to Cincy years ago that the bypass seemed to take forever to hook back up w/ 71.

This typically would be the best way, however 315 is under some major re-construction right now. Between the Hospital curve and I670 it's down to 55mph then 45mph. And they do give out plenty of tickets.

If you take 315 South, pay attention and go 55mph at the hospital curve, the lanes are just funneling there. Columbus has motorcycle cops standing in the shade at the shoulder with LASER flagging people over for speeding.

You can take your chances with either I71 or 315.
Stanford , Kentucky . It looks like I will be on 71 and 75 pretty much the whole way. I have never been to my friends new house down there yet . Last time I was in KY was for boot camp at Ft. Knox this trip ought to a bit more relaxing.
315 is under construction FYI. Take 71 straight through. Many times, 270 is busier.

that's william howard taft. there is not an exit onto mlk, although they run parallel a few blocks apart and run you straight to U.C.

take 71 straight through cincy. you will go through a tunnel and then do a 90 degree right. stay in the right lanes to keep going south and stay in the left lanes on the bridge.this is where 71 and 75 merge together. there are some dangerous and quick exits immediately across the river. make sure you hit downtown before 4.
